On Saturday, 18 October, the Alliance Française de Pretoria had the pleasure of hosting a group of passionate teachers from S.K. Moseneke Primary School in Atteridgeville for a day of art and culture workshops. The goal of the day was to inspire creativity and provide practical tools that the teachers could take back to their classrooms — helping them integrate art into their everyday teaching and spark imagination in their learners.

The workshops were made possible through the generosity of several artists and educators who donated their time and expertise:
Stephanie Olivier guided the teachers through the art of collage, teaching them the fundamentals and encouraging each participant to create their own unique piece.
Bernice Lemmer explored composition and colour, introducing techniques using watercolour pencils, paints, and pens to help teachers express creativity in simple yet dynamic ways.
Illimar Neitz gave participants a taste of music-making, sharing insights into rhythm, practice, and the guitar. Excitingly, he will also be assisting the school in the future to help establish a music programme.
Hugo de Groot led a session on the fundamentals of drawing, demonstrating shading techniques and helping teachers build confidence in sketching and visual expression.
The day was filled with laughter, learning, and collaboration — a true celebration of the arts and their power to inspire both teachers and students alike.
